Custom Mustang Front End

I have never been a huge fan of the 3 lights up front. This design deletes the inner turn lights and opens up the grill a bit. To make this as easy as possible to achieve I would use a hood from a pre-'86 car. This mod has a secondary benefit of allowing more airflow into the radiator.

Ha Ha.

I am pretty sure that the front will end up remaining stock + damage from hitting cones and hay bales.

I am not a huge fan of anything that I have seen out there in the aftermarket.

The older ('82) GT front end is growing on me a bit, but the newer foxes are actually a bit wider at the front, couple that with the wider then stock track width that the SN95 arms have created, and if I put an old front on the car, the wheels would be sticking out big-time.

Thanks for the greeting. I have a big problem with the airflow too. The heat has nowhere to escape. My aftermarket air intake pipe is made of metal and the heat soaks it and cooks the cold air that is pulled in from the fender well. I almost wish I hadn't thrown away the stock one made of plastic. I'm going to have to find a way to insulate the pipe or find one made of a different material. I have also thought about raising the hood like many of the professional drifters do but I think that might look strange on a Mustang. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm almost to the point where I'm going to replace it with some PVC pipe from the hardware store. Lol. But seriously it's causing it to stall and choke out after I run it hard. Burnouts seem to soak it the quickest.

electric water pump is one option and if ur cold air is aluminum its goin to disipate that heat quicker than the stock is a an insulator any heat in it its goin to hold for a lot longer than an aluminum one. my sugestion if the electric water pump isnt affordable i would go with a cobra grill and a cowl induction style hood. thats gonna allow more airflow in and out of your engine bay but air circulation is only gonna help so much you really need to have good water flow as well. oh by the way you can pick up an aluminum radiator from 50resto.com for 139.00 bucks

I guess that expensive electrical fan is going to move up on my list of things to do sooner rather than later. While I am at it I might as well do the radiator and the water pump too. I really like how that raised hood looks. I’m going to raise my hood today.

I raised the hood and I love how it looks. I was able to raise it ¾”. I had to go to Home Depot to get a 30mm screw. Check out my blog for more details and a step by step walk through for idiots like me. I have 3 new posts on my Mustang blog.

I am using a fan that I found in a junkyard, came out of a mid 90's Volvo, cost me like $50.

I am using a DCC Fan controller that works great, but I don't know if it is possible to get those anymore.

Here is his website:

http://www.dccontrol.com/

Maybe try to hit him up on one of the forums he lists.

i kinda like it. even if the bottom opening was a little bigger an oil cooler could fit perfectly in that space. I think that if someone could make a front end and have it look like the newer ford mustang 05- that would look amazing on the FOX's!

i have a few suggestions, you already have a aluminum radiator (fluidyne right? they're the best) try buying two single electric fans, one push one pull. you can get them at the long beach swap meet for $99 each. mount one on the outside between the radiator and bumper and one on the inside between the radiator and engine. Also the electric water pump mentioned above is another great idea...i have a moroso kinda ungly but cools mu fire breather under some serious shit. very streetable and frees up some more ponies. if you could run only the power steering and alternator you would be in good shape.

OH AND JUST LEAVE THE CAR WITHOUT A WING. it make s a statement. and as far as the front end goes buy some smoked head lights cut a few small cirles like the hondas do on they back bumpers and leave it be, the headlights will totally change the look especially with the car being grey. oh and buy a fiberglass hood 3''cowl just in case you do a intake w/spacer change.

sorry for typing some much just trying to help lol

Airflow through the radiators is vital.
