We had a great time at the track this weekend. A number of guys from the forum made the trip to Willow Springs, and there was even a second Mustang on the track. I think this whole Mustang drifting deal is starting to gather steam.
We took the Mustang to Horse-Thief mile out at Willow Spring to burn off the last 2 sets of Dunlops and end 2008 on a high note. Because the event was somewhat lightly attended we had a chance to make something like 60 laps and really get a feel for the issues that still plague the car. Hopefully over the next few months I will have a chance to address some of the remaining balance issues that drifting a Mustang presents, and have the car better then ever for the 2009 Just Drift series.
Back in May of 2007, Geoff and David of driftlive.com started an unorthodox drift project: A 1990 Ford Mustang GT. Since then, they have built the car from the ground up to make a unique and surprisingly competitive drift vehicle.
The Ziptied All-Star Bash is quickly becoming "the coolest" drift event to be at. In all seriousness, it was a great event and the first time that David had that car in tandem drift.
Charlie is not the only one that thinks the Mustang could use a little more love in the E-Brake department. Alex Pfeiffer took the car for a spin a while back at El Toro and gave David quite the laugh when he reached for our invisible E-Brake.
A big part of this whole project is to show how viable the Mustang is as a platform for grassroots drifting. Having Charlie, from Just Drift take the car out and give us his impression lets us know we are on the right path.
Things are looking good for 2008. The Greddy Performance festival was held down at the El Toro airfield and we made it out to the track for the third time this year.
At this point the cars suspension is very close. I plan to add some subframe connectors and Horsepower for the next track day.
It's time to get this Mustang building some tire smoke.
The first time to the track after the installation of the "Drift Button" was a huge success. I think that I can finally say that we have the Mustang to a point where it's true potential is becoming obvious even to those who have not drank the Mustang Drift Cool-Aide.
